Volcano Speak

Paintings inspired by the USGS videos of the Kilauea volcanic eruptions on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Starting on May 3, 2018 the lava has been continuously flowing and to date has added 700 acres of land to the Island.

It is a powerful and beautiful thing to watch, as we are viewing the act of the earth creating land. It has been reported that this will be flowing for the next 60 years; this is heaven for the volcanologists that are studying this activity.

While painting these I was struck by not only the power but also the pure energy of this activity.

There has been a lot of property lost to the lava flow but no lives.
